Central Interior Partners in Aboriginal Human Resource Development which is located in Kamloops and serve the surrounding region is offering 4 exciting job opportunities to work in the our new Central Interior Trades and Apprenticeship Centre (CITAC) employment programs and service office.
We are looking for dynamic individuals to fill 4 positions:
1 CITAC Manager Anticipatory
Job Duties:
· Plan, organize and direct the operations of the CITAC administration office.
· Monitor budgets to ensure that expenditures are within approved budgets.
· Establish priorities and meet deadlines with the ability to multi-task.
· Supervise up to 6 staff and effectively coordinate daily aspects of program delivery.
· Promotes CITAC and the employment/ training programs they support through the development and implementation of marketing strategies to recruit program participants.
· Implement policies made by trades committee.
· Prepare written and oral reports for the committees.
· Authorize all expenditures by signing cheque requisitions or purchase orders. Oversee the purchase of all other supplies and expenditures where deemed necessary.
· Assist with client work load.
· Interview clients to obtain employment history, education background and career goals
· Identifies barriers to employment and assist clients with such matters as job readiness skills, job search strategies, writing resumes and preparing for job interviews
Position requirements:
· Must be a ticketed trades person and have served an apprenticeship
· Completion of secondary school and several years experience in services related to trades counseling or in a helping profession
· Must have a valid drivers’ license and access to a reliable vehicle.
· Must have proven experience in public speaking
· Several years experience at a professional level in business administration.
· Provide leadership, direction and support to staff
· Public relations experience.
· Excellent knowledge and experience using labour market information.
· Excellent knowledge and experience in governance and regulatory compliance procedures
· Excellent interpersonal, communication and motivational skills.
· Ability to work independently or within a team environment.
· Knowledge of the local Aboriginal cultures.
· Experience using Microsoft programs (Word and Excel).
Prefer a person who is ticketed and has a thorough understanding of trades and apprenticeships.
2 CITAC Trades Consultants Anticipatory
Job Duties:
· Interview clients to obtain employment history, educational background and career goals
· Identifies barriers to employment and assist clients with such matters as job readiness skills, job search strategies, writing resumes and preparing for job interviews
· Administers and interpret tests designed to determine the interests, aptitudes and abilities of clients
· Provides consulting services to community groups and agencies, business and industry and to other organizations involved in providing community-based career planning resources
· Co-ordinates or participates in client orientation
· May administer and interpret standardized intelligence, personality, vocational, aptitude and interest tests
· Provide assistance, counsel and information to clients on all aspects of job search and career planning specific to trades and apprenticeship
Position requirements:
· Must be a ticketed trades person and will have served an apprenticeship (where possible)
· •The preferred candidate will minimally have a post-secondary certificate in human services and 3 to 5 years of work experience, or a postsecondary diploma and 1 to 2 years of work experience, or the equivalent combination of post-secondary education and work experience.
· Must be willing to travel on CITAC business, possess reliable transportation and hold a valid driver’s license.
· Demonstrated experience in Employment Counseling
· Demonstrated experience with employment and training programming
· Collection and interpretation of labour market information
· Excellent interpersonal, communication and motivational skills.
· Experience in Microsoft programs (Word and PowerPoint)
· Experience with public speaking and workshop facilitation
· Ability to work independently or within a team environment.
· Knowledge of the local Aboriginal cultures.
Prefer a person who is ticketed and has a thorough understanding of trades and apprenticeships. Preference given for qualified Aboriginal candidate.
1 Resource Centre Coordinator Anticipatory
Job Duties:
· Builds and maintains Resource Library
· Work one-on-one with walk-in Self-serve and Case Managed clients in need of accessing resources
· Assist resource centre users and Trades Consultants in accessing books, films, photographs, maps, documents, electronic materials, labour market information and other materials
· Records/resource management
· Catalogue/order new materials and publications
· Maintain a strong link to trades and apprenticeship with employers for local and provincial labour market information
· Perform client follow-ups for Self serve clients and assist in follow-up over flow
· Work with Senior Entry/ Administration to input coded, statistical, and financial and other information into computerized databases, spreadsheets or other templates
· Compile data, statistics and other information and may conduct research
Position requirements:
· Completion of administrative assistant certificate and/or library technician courses
· Must have a valid drivers’ license and access to a reliable vehicle.
· Must have good trades resume writing skills
· Must have an understanding of trades and apprentices
· Must have excellent interpersonal/customer service skills
· Proven experience in resource library management
· Respond to telephone, in person or electronic enquiries
· Provide general information to clients, employees and the public
· Process incoming and outgoing mail, manually or electronically
· May perform some bookkeeping tasks
· Ability to work independently or within a team environment.
· Knowledge of the local Aboriginal cultures.
· Experience in Microsoft programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel and Outlook)
Experience working with trades and apprenticeships setting will be an asset in the Resource Centre Coordinator position.
Terms: Positions dependent upon receipt of funding
